This card airs exclusively on Showtime today (Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 p.m. ET, (7:00 p.m. PT), with the main event starting at roughly 12:45 a.m. ET. Tim 'The Soul Taker' Tszyu (22-0-0, 16 KOs) defends his WBO Interim Title against Carlos 'Chema' Ocampo (35-2-0, 22 KOs) in the main event in Australia. The main event of the show, which is being held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia, will be the thrilling 12-round super welterweight contest.
The Aussie, Tim Tszyu, the 28-year-old Interim WBO World Super Welterweight Champion, has been performing as a professional athlete for six years now and remains undefeated. He is coming off an electrifying knockout victory over former champion Tony Harrison back in March. Tszyu is seen to be firmly in line for Louisiana’s Jermell Charlo’s (35-1-1. 19 KOs) undisputed status and titles later this year, assuming he is victorious this weekend.
Ocampo, a 27-year-old Latino fighter ranked No. 1 at super welterweight, flew from Mexico to Australia to challenge Tszyu for the title. "On June 17 he will understand what it is to meet a Mexican," remarked Tszyu recently. I'm going to defeat Tim Tszyu, no doubt about it. He has ten years of professional boxing experience. Additionally, he recently defeated Mauricio Gutierrez Castor via knockout in March. In reality, Ocampo has only suffered two defeats in his 36 professional fight career.
The remainder of the card appears to be sturdy. The New South Wales favourite Sam Goodman (14-0, 7 KO) will face Las Vegas-based, undefeated Ra'eese "The Beast" Aleem (20-0, 12 KOs) in a 12-round IBF Super Bantamweight eliminator bout. The Australian Super Lightweight Title fight between Justin Frost and Hassan Hamdan is also on the schedule.
