Adames (22-1, 17 KOs), who lost a decision to Patrick Teixeira in 2019, has dominated the opposition. He has defeated three of his previous four opponents by knockout, and he defeated Sergeiy Derevyanchenko in a close majority decision. He won the interim title by knocking out Juan Macias Montiel in the third round last October, and he will now try to defend it against a fighter who has experience winning world championships. Williams (28-3-1, 16 KOs) used to hold the title of unified champion at 154 pounds, but recently has struggled. He lost a decision to Vladimir Hernandez in 2021 after being halted by Jeison Rosario in January 2020.
